Kickboxing at Gold’s Gym
Yes, I joined Gold’s Gym. My wife and I signed-up for a 24 month contract and I’m excited about it. Last night was my first night working out and I joined a Kickboxing class. This is my experience.
We got there a little early to stretch and to make sure we got a spot – Gold’s Gym is pretty busy and this class, in particular, is quite popular and we wanted a spot.
The people were nice; as we walked in, we were greeted by nice, muscular folks and the by the entrance was an area full of weight loss supplements, muscle shakes, fat burner, and other dietary supplements.
After a few minutes, our instructor came in and pumped up some loud music. It was motivating and then we began.
I’ve done a lot of martial arts before, so this was no big deal to me. I really wanted a good cardio workout and was hoping I’d get that.
We did basic kickboxing stuff – jab, straights, front kicks, boom kicks, hooks, upper cuts, and other aerobics thrown into the mix. The instructor was nice and she motivated us and seemed to know what she was doing. She did say a few odd things and here is the oddest thing she said (I’m paraphrasing):
Okay class, I’m out next week. I’ll be on a Caribbean Cruise. I’ll be sun tanning all week long. That’s why I married my husband, because he love to sun tan also and he can sun tan even longer than me! LoL. LoL.
Yeah, too much information, to be sure.
Anyways, we also used stretchy bands as resistance for our legs and outer thighs. Those worked good and I felt my thighs burning. We also did ab exercises using an imaginary medicine ball. That was cool and I felt a burn in my abs. Maybe my belly fat will go away the more I do this.
All in all, the Kickboxing experience at Gold’s Gym was good. It wasn’t the cardio workout I was expecting, but I was fun. I’m going to try the spin class next.
